MONTVILLE, NJ - After serving the community for 20 years out of her home, Millie Enriquez partnered with Kim Wilkisson to open Millie's House in Towaco.

Millie's House had its official ribbon cutting ceremony in October. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Scott Gallopo, as well as friends and family of co-founders Enriquez and Wilkisson.

"It's been a very, very long journey to get here," Enriquez told the packed crowd just after the red-ribbon had been cut in front of the new location of Millie's House. Enriquez commented how grateful she was for everyone who was there to support her, especially the two people who always guided her to do this [her mother and Wilkisson], her husband, her boys and her team who works with her every day.

"It's such a labor of love and truly such a gift," Enriquez said.

Enriquez started her childcare business 20 years ago with her mother, effectionately called "Ma" by all who have come to know her. "I've always had a love for kids and a connection with childcare," Enriquez said, "I feel we have an obligation to pick-up where parents leave off during the day. I always think, 'What would I have wanted for my children.' Our philosophy is to focus on instilling respect, caring and kindness in all the children and we are committed to each child's development, well being and growth."

When it was time to think about expanding her home-based daycare, Enriquez turned to Wilkisson, whose son Zack was one of Millie's first daycare students and they decided to "take this journey together."

"Our friendship and sisterhood is something that is unmatched and I'm so happy to be taking this journey with you," Enriquez said to Wilkisson at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Wilkisson is excited about this new journey and feels that Millie's House will "change the way that daycare is currently viewed."

"Our goal is to marry the feel of home-based daycare with a school-like facility so the children feel safe and secure while developing and learning," Wilkisson said, "because learning begins at home."

Millie's House offers childcare, preschool and summer camp programs for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years old and is located at 700 Main Road in Towaco. More information about Millie's House can be found on their website.
