MONTVILLE, NJ - Lazar Middle School 7th grader Lindsay Zuckerman is organizing a Dance-A-Thon fundraiser to help raise awareness and funds for the National Gaucher Foundation (NGF).
Zuckerman has Type 1 Gaucher disease and is hoping for the support of the Montville Community for this event. According to the NGF website, Gaucher disease is the most prevalent Lysosomal Storage Disorder in the world and although Gaucher disease can affect anyone, Gaucher disease type 1 is the most common inherited Jewish genetic disease.
The NGF website includes the following quote from Lindsay, "My name is Lindsay Zuckerman. I am 12 years old and I have Type 1 Gaucher disease. I have struggled with much pain over the years but I am able to live a pretty normal life because of the enzyme replacement therapy infusions I receive every other week. The work of the National Gaucher Foundation is very important to my life and I hope you will help sponsor this event and come dance with me on January 31st!"
The Dance-A-Thon fundraiser will take place on Sunday, Jan. 31 from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Pine Brook Jewish Center located at 174 Changebridge Road in Montville. The event will be featuring the music of JK Productions and include dancing, raffle, games, prizes and refreshments.
To support this event, go to www.gaucherdisease.org and click on "Support Lindsay's Dance-A-Thon" or use this link: Lindsay's Dance-A-Thon. Registration and RSVP for this event is required by Jan. 24 via e-mail at email@example.com or via phone at (973) 886-5456.
According to the event website, the money raised through this event will help the National Gaucher Foundation to continue critical programs that directly help people with this very rare disease. The NGF provides financial assistance, hosts educational meetings and conferences, advances legislative issues, supports patient advocacy, provides patient and physician referrals, and promotes research for alternative treatments and a cure for Gaucher disease.
