MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville baseball team learned its seed for the upcoming state tournament at Thursday's NJSIAA state tournament seeding meeting in Robbinsville.

The Mustangs, who currently hold a 12-11 record, have earned the fifth seed in the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 3 tournament. It will host 12th seeded Sparta on Monday in the first round, in a game scheduled for 4 p.m. at Montville Township High School.

It has been an up-and-down season for Montville, which won nine games in a row from April 11-29. Since then, the team has gone 2-7 in its last nine games, with back-to-back losses to Roxbury and Morristown this week.

It still has one more regular season game left before the state tournament, as it is slated to travel to Morris Knolls for an 11 a.m. first pitch on Saturday. Then, after Monday's state game, it will host Pequannock on Tuesday at 7 p.m. for senior night.
