MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville boys lacrosse team opened up the state tournament with a resounding victory, as the sixth seed Mustangs knocked off 11th seed Tenafly, 14-2 in the opening round of the North Jersey, Group 2 tournament at Montville Township High School on Wednesday.

Jake Garb had a hat trick and an assist and Richie Prager added two goals and two assists for Montville. Tyler Ravenelle dished out five assists. Brendan Perretta scored three times, Brendan McHale scored twice, and Alex Khalaf had a goal and an assist. Zach Stolz-Illge won 10-of-13 face-offs.

Eric Lindskog made nine saves and Steve Olsson made three saves for Montville.

With the win, Montville advanced to the quarterfinals, where it will face third seed Nutley away on Saturday.
