MONTVILLE, NJ - Sydney Kayne is a 15 year old singer/songwriter who is a sophomore at Montville High School. She is one of five finalists in the Z100 Hometown Hero Contest. The winner will be announced on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 7:00 p.m. by Z100 Mo’ Bounce and will have the honor to perform at this year’s Z100 and Coca-Cola All Access Lounge at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on Dec. 12, as well as walk the red carpet at the main event, Z100’s Jingle Ball at Madison Square Garden that evening.
“Z100’s Hometown Hero competition is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring artists in our region to showcase their talent,” said Sharon Dastur, Z100’s Program Director. “It is a career changer to be a part of Z100’s Jingle Ball, and we’re excited to offer it to budding talent for another year.”
Kayne played at the Towaco Music Festival this past summer. She has also played at other local venues such as the Denville Farmers market, Boonton’s Music on Main, events at Boonton Methodist Church and Morristown Folk Project.
“It’s awesome that the judges have picked me as one of the top five finalists," Kayne said. "Now I think it’s just really important that as many people as possible vote - that’s really what it comes down to. This opportunity is incredible and regardless of how it turns out, I’m so pumped I have made it this far. I think that Z100 is doing a great thing by supporting local artists, and most importantly, letting these people, like me, be heard.”
Kayne's mother, Jen, added, "It would be great if the Montville community could help Sydney achieve her dreams. You can vote for her until December 2nd."
