MONTVILLE, NJ - The Kiwanis Club of Montville, NJ is raising funds for the establishment of a Memorial Garden at the Community Park in Montville Township. Donations can be mailed to the attention of “Montville Kiwanis” at P.O. Box 808 in Montville, NJ 07045.

In a letter (see gallery) to the community, the Montville Kiwanis’ Memorial Project Committee announced its plan to honor the proud legacy of service instituted by the club and the men and women who dedicated so much of their time to its mission. To commemorate the indelible mark Montville Kiwanis has made on our community, the club is seeking to raise $15,000 for a Memorial Garden at the Community Park property (next to the playground that Montville Kiwanis helped to establish).

Montville Kiwanis has touched many lives in its more than 40 years of service. The volunteer organization is responsible for erecting playgrounds on communal properties, including Community Park, Camp Dawson, and the Municipal Fields, to name a few. The club’s proudest achievement is its long-standing sponsorship of the MTHS Key Club, which provides local youth with the opportunities to engage in community service as a part of their high school career. The MTHS Key Club is among the most widely recognized chapters in the state of New Jersey and raises thousands of dollars for local and international charities with is annual Volley Ball Marathon, in addition to its year-round service programs.

But Montville Kiwanis is most well-known, perhaps, for its establishment and operation of the Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry. Open Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons, the Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry has provided non-perishable food items to Montville Residents in need for the past 10 years. Adapting rapidly, the pantry remained open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, providing more than $10,000 in gift cards to impacted families and distributing non-perishable food bundles to our residents and members of neighboring communities who were hit hardest by the economic downturn brought on by the pandemic.

In their more than 40 years of service, Montville Kiwanis has been a hallmark of the Montville Township community. From annual fishing derby’s each Spring and 50/50’s at the Fourth of July celebration to spreading warmth with Holiday caroling each Winter, their activities have helped to enrich the quality of life our residents enjoy in innumerable ways.

Montville Kiwanis is now requesting your support in honoring this proud legacy of service. A Memorial Garden seated beside one of the club’s most beloved contributions to Montville Township would provide a touchstone for our community, a site for everyone who’s lives have been touched by the organization’s work to reflect on the difference individuals dedicated to giving back to their community can make. There are a great many reasons to take pride in being a “Montville Kiwanian”. We hope you’ll join us in preserving them for generations to come.
