MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville Police Explorers will be hosting a fundraiser performance of “Laughter on the 23rd Floor,” at The Barn Theatre. The Barn Theatre presents proceeds from a performance to several Montville charities every year, and the Friday, Sept. 19 performance will benefit Montville Police Explorers Post 805.
The Post, which is a non-profit youth group, has existed for more than 30 years, and is for students ages 13 to 21 who are interested in law enforcement. Explorers attend meetings throughout the school year to learn enforcement techniques, but the Post also provides community service within the Township by performing such services as aiding the parking of cars at the Montville Fourth of July celebration, aiding in safety maintenance at the Relay for Life celebration, and keeping business parking lots cleared at the Towaco Music & Arts Festival. This year they will also host a bounce house ride at the Towaco Festival.
“Laughter on the 23rd Floor” is a play written by renowned playwright Neil Simon, based on Sid Caesar’s “Your Show of Shows.” “The comedy play tells of the office antics of staff writers trying to put out a weekly TV variety show,” according to the Barn Theatre website.
"We are thrilled to be hosting the Police Explorers benefit. It will be a great night of fun and laughs," Barn Theatre Publicity Director Omar Kozarsky stated.
The Barn Theatre is located at 32 Skyline Drive in Montville. Tickets are available by calling Officer Dominick Danzi at LDD722@aol.com. The Police Explorers will also be selling tickets at various sites and times around town.
