MONTVILLE, NJ – The Montville Township Police Department sponsored the Touch-A-Truck event on Sunday, May 6, at which dozens of township and commercial vehicles parked at the high school, allowing kids to see the vehicles, talk to the owners, and meet emergency personnel from across the township.

“We wanted to put a face to the first responders the kids may encounter in an emergency,” event chair Patrolman Dominick Danzi told TAPinto Montville. “Plus the kids could see the commercial trucks and learn what they do. This event is part of our continued effort to build community relations.”

The event featured dump trucks, fire trucks, an ambulance, and even the Morris County Sheriff’s emergency response team unit. Atlantic Health’s medevac helicopter landed and was available for climbing into as well.

Scott Serafin of Serafin Excavating brought a piece of excavating equipment and a dump truck to the event for the families to view.

“I’ve lived in town my whole life,” he told TAPinto Montville. “I went to Montville Township High School and 35 years later I’m still here. I always look for an opportunity to help out the town. This event is good for the kids and the community.”

Dan Como of Como and Sons Landscape Supply brought his brand-new rolloff truck, which carries dumpsters to sites.

“We’re a third generation company in our 60th year,” he said. “I like to help especially since this is for the kids. I have a two-year-old who will be there with his best friend.”

Sierra Rana, age 7,  and brother Armaan, 2, were there because of all the YouTube videos Armaan watches, their dad said.

“He can distinguish all the trucks,” he said. “And he loves the Cars movies!”

Scott Fahrney brought his son Ethan, 4, with his friends, because he wanted to check out the dump trucks, Scott said.

“They really loved the helicopter and the fire truck, too, though!” Scott said.

Danzi would like to thank Police Chief Rudy Appelmann and Captain Andrew Caggiano for their aid in this event, and the PBA for the MTPD for providing the refreshments, plus Atlantic Health, Ajaco Towing, C&L Towing, Columbia Inn, Dan Como and Sons, Corigliano Towing, JCP&L, Pinto, Roselle, Scott Serafin Excavating, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, Tymco, Montville Township Dept. of Public Works, Fire Department, First Aid Squad, Towaco Fire Dept. and Pine Brook Fire Dept.
