MONTVILLE, NJ - Montville Township Administrator Victor Canning announced the appointment of Donna (Lori) Dent to the position of Recreation Director for the Township of Montville effective December 29, 2014.
In this position, Dent will be responsible for overseeing the general operation of the Recreation Department, including management of the park facilities as well as oversight of the Township’s recreation programs.
Dent replaces Maryann Witty who retired from the position of Recreation Director after 38 years of service to Montville Township.
Dent has more than 13 years of recreation management experience where she served as Recreation Director for the Borough of Midland Park. In that community she developed over 30 new self-sustaining programs and developed their first in-town summer camp program. Dent brought her expertise to the Borough of Oakland where she developed a coaching certification process, oversaw a playground and field lighting upgrade project, and secured a lightening detecting system.
Prior to her new position with Montville Township, Dent served as Recreation Director for Mendham Township where she successfully planned and executed seasonal programs, and community events and trips.
When asked about her ability to accomplish a wide range of career goals, Dent stated, “My successful career stems from my passion to serve the public knowing that each successful program or event has the ability to enhance, improve, and sometimes even change the lives of those I have had the privilege to serve.”
Administrator Canning added, “Montville Township’s recreation program was a huge success under the direction of Maryann Witty, and we believe Mrs. Dent and her staff will continue this strong tradition.”
