MONTVILLE, NJ – Montville Township celebrated the 4th of July with its spectacular display of fireworks July 2. Thousands of residents and visitors gathered at the township’s library, high school, and community park to enjoy games, music, rides, and food in anticipation of the show, which began on time at dusk.

Montville Township Mayor James Sandham thanked the township’s Police Department, First Aid Squad, all three Fire Departments (Montville, Pine Brook and Towaco), municipal staff, Police Explorers, and the Fourth of July Committee, which consisted of Vincent G Maffucci, President; Robert Plishka, Vice President; Dan Miller, Treasurer; Jeff Lombino, Secretary; Rich Fardo, Trustee; and Jerry Fragetti, Trustee.

This year’s fireworks had a strongly patriotic theme, set to the National Anthem, the themes of the branches of the military, “God Bless America” sung by Celine Dionne, the “Stars and Stripes Forever” by Sousa, then diverging to country music with “Only in America” by Brooks and Dunn, and Katy Perry’s “Firework.” The spectacular finale was set to the “1812 Overture.”
