MONTVILLE, NJ – As a way of marking the last of the 15th day of celebration for the Chinese New Year welcoming the year of the dog, the Montville Township Chinese Association shared their appreciation of the staff and teachers at Montville Township High School with a special luncheon on March 2.
Offerings included steamed buns, chicken and broccoli and other Chinese favorites, but also wraps, fruit and salads.
The event, in its second year, was co-chaired by Xiaoyu Liu and Margaret Lam. Lam told TAPinto Montville the luncheon is designed to show teachers and staff how much the association appreciates their hard work with the children in the township.
“Many of our members are school parents,” she said.
The association hopes to continue the event every year as a way of having fun, spreading good will, and promoting Chinese culture in the community.
“We also wanted to celebrate the Chinese New Year in the community,” Lam said.
Principal Douglas Sanford said the teachers and staff enjoyed the luncheon.
“I heard numerous positive remarks during the lunch and throughout the remainder of the day,” he said. “The entire staff greatly appreciated the generous meal. The purchased and prepared food, as well as the volunteerism of several parents, was a welcome gift. On behalf of the MTHS staff, I would like to thank Ms. Margaret Lam and the other volunteers for your generosity and support of our high school staff. They provided a wonderful lunch for the high school.”
