MONTVILLE, NJ - Sophia Laurenzi graduated from Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA on June 17, 2017 with honors from the Science, Technology and Society Program and with a BA degree in Psychology: Neuroscience Concentration.
She was awarded the distinguished Firestone Medal of Excellence in Undergraduate Research for her thesis, “The Gray Matter of Young Adulthood: Neuroscience, Social Trends, and Justice Reform."
The Firestone Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Research recognizes theses written in the social sciences, natural sciences and engineering and applied sciences. Laurenzi received an engraved bronze medal, a printed citation and a prize check to commemorate this award.
"Completing an honors thesis is in itself a remarkable accomplishment, but the projects recognized have been selected by Stanford faculty as the most outstanding and deserving of this special distinction, representing approximately the top ten percent of all theses submitted," the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Stanford University said.
Laurenzi, a Montville native, is a graduate of Saint Pius X School and Montville Township High School Class of 2013.
