Paul Boudreau, president of the Morris County Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement last week about the ruling by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that the PennEast pipeline can be built with little impact on the environment.

“Today’s finding by federal regulators that the PennEast underground natural gas pipeline is safe for the environment is an enormous victory for families and businesses across New Jersey and here in Morris County. The most affordable and abundant supply of natural gas on the continent is just over 100 miles from New Jersey in the Marcellus Formation in Pennsylvania, so directly accessing the field for the first time will power our state’s economy for decades to come and trigger investment and job growth. This is a local project benefiting every resident and business in New Jersey. Our organization looks forward to the FERC commissioner’s final approval of the project this summer. The Morris County Chamber of Commerce comprises leading pharmaceutical companies, other global manufacturers and small businesses. One of the things they have in common is the need to access a reliable supply of low-cost energy that keeps them competitive, growing and creating jobs in New Jersey.”
