New Jersey Comic Expo on Tap

EDISON, NJ - For comic book lovers, the upcoming weekend is pretty special since the New Jersey Comic Expo will be opening its doors to fans of all ages. The event will debut in the Garden State on Saturday, November 21 and Sunday, November 22 at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center in Edison.

The NJ Comic Expo offers family-friendly fun along with a whole host of entertainment, panels and even special guests. It will also feature custom cars as well as a taste of television and film. Comic book publishing houses along with writers and artists will be on hand to ineract with fans of the genre.

Special celebrity guest include Drea de Matteo, Amy Acker, Tommy Walker and Peter Shinkoda among others.

Matteo's acting resume includes "The Sopranos," "The Sons of Anarchy" and "Agents of the S.H.I.E.L.D." Acker has appeared on "Angel" and "Person of Interest." Shinkoda and Walker both appear on Netflix's "Marvel's Daredevil." Acker will be in the celebrity signing area on Saturday only. However, Matteo, Shinkoda and Walker will be in attendance all weekend.

Comic book artist, John Cassaday will also be at the comic expo. Cassaday is responsible for the art for the first six installements of Marvel's Star Wars books. The artist rarely appears at comic book conventions and will be available to sign books this weekend.

Admission for children 10 and under is free for the New Jersey Comic Book Expo. Discounts are offered for seniors, members of the military as well as law enforcement personnel.

A weekend pass is $45. Saturday admission is $30 while a Sunday-only ticket is $23. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the days of the event or online. Online ticket buyers can gain access to the event a half an hour before doors open to the public.

On Saturday, November 21, the event runs from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Early admission is at 9:30 a.m. On Sunday, November 22, doors are open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. with early admission starting at 9:30 a.m.

There are additional fees for celebrity autographs and VIP meet and greet packages available for Jim Lee and John Cassaday. Fans interested in those should visit the New Jersey Comic Expo's website. There are only a certain number for sale.

For Star Wars fans, the limited edition "Star Wars: Vadar Down" will be available at the expo on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last. This is the first issue in a much anticipated cross-over Marvel event and will have a six-issue run.

The New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center is located on 97 Sunfield Avenue in Edison.
