NJ Audubon: Beginning Birding at Scherman Hoffman & the Great Swamp
Led by Rich Borzelli, NJA Associate Naturalist

If you are interested in birding but don't know how to get started, or if you're overwhelmed by the advanced, intense birding field trips out there, then this is the program for you!  We'll begin the program indoors in our nature store by observing the abundant birds that visit the sanctuary birdfeeding station, and learning their distinguishing characteristics or "field marks."  Then we'll caravan to Pleasant Plains Road in the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge for an outdoor "practical" on birdwatching.  We'll observe and learn identifying birds at a distance.  We'll have loaner binoculars, field guides, and a spotting scope to share during the program.  Please dress for the weather.
