MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville Township Police Department sent out a Nixle Alert today warning residents about a JCP&L worker scam that occurred in Pine Brook on Thursday, April 6.
According to police, a man entered the home of a resident on Pine Brook Road stating to the homeowner that he was an employee of JCP&L and needed to check the breakers inside of the home because a tree had knocked out power to the area.
Police said that the resident let the man inside of the home and escorted him upstairs where the man explained his need to check the house. While talking to the man upstairs, the homeowner heard noises from downstairs and observed a second man in the house. Police believe the second man committed a theft at that time.
The men are described as Hispanic and wearing yellow reflective vests, Police said. Police added that one man was tall and the other was short and both men left in a small silver hatchback-style SUV.
