MONTVILLE, NJ - The sun tried to peek through clouds as Naturalist Megan Turner brought a group of kids on a “Leafy Walk” on one of Pyramid Mountain’s eight trails. She pointed out that different trees have different-shaped leaves, and taught them about what trees “eat.”

Tuesday morning’s “Pre-School Walk” was just one of the many programs available at Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area, located on Boonton Avenue in Montville. With weekday programs for babies called “Baby and Me Hikes,” “Toddler Treks,” and family programs on weekends such as next Sunday’s “Family Science Day,” the park is busy aside from visits from people who simply want to hike.

“We offer programs year-round for visitors of all ages, including full moon walks and evening canoe paddles,” said Senior Teacher Naturalist Douglas Vorolieff.
