Retirees Honored by Montville Township Committee

MONTVILLE, NJ – The Montville Township Committee honored its 2015 and 2016 retirees at its March 22 regular meeting. The ten retirees had a combined 269 years of service to the township.

Paula Joy started as a senior police records clerk in September 1989. She was promoted to confidential secretary to the police chief in February of 2013. She also served as a police matron. She retired in February 2016 after 27 years of service.

Keith Kelly began with the Montville Township Municipal Utilities Authority as a utility man in August 1981. In 2001, he became an employee of the Township’s Water & Sewer Department with the title of water meter reader and repairer. He retired in February 2015 after 34 years of service.

Brian Laird began with the township in March 1974 as the Construction Official. He retired in February 2016 after 42 years of service. He was recently awarded the 2016 Chamber of Commerce Public Service Award, which can be read about here: Chamber Awards

Thomas Lenhardt began with the township as the Tax Assessor in December of 1984. He was also the Tax Assessor for the Borough of Lincoln Park. He retired in January 2016 after 31 years of service.

Teresa Marino began with the township in July 1997 as an account clerk with the Engineering/DPW Departments. She was then was promoted to principal clerk typist. She retired in January 2016 after 19 years of service.

Robert Perkins began with the township in August 2005 as our computer services technician. He is retiring at the end of March 2016 after 12 years of service. Perkins has been an active member of the Montville First Aid Squad for many years.

David Peterson began with the Police Department as a patrolman in January 1988. In 2001 he was promoted to Sergeant, in 2005 he was promoted to Lieutenant, and in 2015 was promoted to Captain. He was awarded the Chamber of Commerce’s Public Safety Award in 1994. He retired at the end of February 2016 after more than 28 years of service. Peterson also served on the Drug Awareness Municipal Alliance for more than eight years.

Sherry Pressman began as the Municipal Court Administrator in January 1995. She retired in December 2015 after 21 years of service.

Olga Rotonda began with the township in April 1987 as a principal assessing clerk. She then became the assistant tax assessor in July 1994. She retired in July 2015 after 29 years of service.

Lorraine Zagula began with the Montville Township Municipal Utilities Authority in December 1990 as a clerk. In October 2000 she became an employee of the township as an account clerk for the Health Department. She has also served as the Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics. She is retiring at the end of March 2016 after 26 years of service.

“That amount of service is a tremendous amount,” said Mayor James Sandham. “We thank you as a committee, and more than that, the citizens of Montville Township thank you for your years of service.”
