MONTVILLE, NJ – Senator Joseph Pennacchio presented Margaret Lam with a ceremonial resolution from the New Jersey State Senate honoring the Northern New Jersey Chinese Association in celebrating the Chinese New Year.
“The Senate of the State of New Jersey is pleased to join the NNJCA, a highly esteemed organization in the Garden State, as it celebrates the Chinese New Year,” the resolution states in part. “The NNJCA has earned a remarkable reputation for ably providing an array of services and programs to the people of Montville Township and the surrounding area, which includes a Sunday Chinese school, and the members of [the organization] have been especially appreciated for upholding their rich and unique culture, [and] for sharing it with their neighbors.”
The resolution applauds the efforts of the organization’s president, Joe Yang, and advisor and Montville resident Margaret Lam for helping that organization earn the respect and admiration of the community and the state.
“The leaders and members of the Chinese community throughout New Jersey are especially commended for their active participation in our cultural, political, economic, and social life, and for making profound and noteworthy contributions to our success and ongoing prosperity,” according to the resolution.
The group will be celebrating the year of the pig at a special celebration Feb. 9, which Pennacchio said he was unable to attend, but he presented Lam with the resolution in a small ceremony at his office.
