MONTVILLE, NJ - During the month of November, the Student Council of Robert R. Lazar Middle School hosted a food drive to benefit the Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry. Students and teachers donated close to 2,000 food items.

On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Lazar’s maintenance department had to make two trips to Montville’s food pantry in order to deliver the many donated food items.

Lazar’s November food drive is one of many community outreach programs organized by the school’s Student Council each year.

“Reaching out to help others is very rewarding,” said Seventh Grade Science teacher and Student Council Advisor, Kelly Sturdy-Lange. “The students are amazingly generous.”

Lazar Middle School is one of seven schools in the Montville Township Public School district. Throughout the year most of the district’s schools collect donations for the community’s food pantry. The Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry is staffed by volunteers and is located at 91 Passaic Valley Road in Montville, NJ. The pantry accepts donations year-round.
