Ten Lazar Students Chosen to Participate in North Jersey Regional Honors Music Programs

MONTVILLE, NJ - Ten students from Robert R. Lazar Middle School in Montville were selected to participate in the North Jersey School Music Association (NJSMA) Regional Honors Junior High School Band, Chorus and Orchestra. The students auditioned on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Clifton High School, along with over 1,500 other students from across North Jersey.

According to the organization’s website, the NJSMA Regional Honors Band, Chorus and Orchestra selected roughly 100 students for each program.

Out of the more than 1,500 who auditioned, the following Lazar Middle School students were chosen:

In the Orchestra: Jessica Lee, grade 8 was selected as 2nd chair viola.

In the Band: Jennifer Weiss, grade 7, was selected 4th chair, clarinet.

In the Chorus:

Altos, Julia Musilli, grade 8; Srishti Nandy, grade 7.

1st Sopranos: Christine Sun, grade 7; Ashley Westergaard, grade 7.

2nd Sopranos: Jenny Sun, grade 7; Meera Krishnan, grade 8; Verina Megala, grade 8.

All NJSMA Regional Honors musicians will rehearse and perform extensively throughout Northern New Jersey from now through the end of the academic year. For a full listing of performance venues see the NJSMA website (NJSMA.com)
