MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville Educational Foundation approved funding of a writing grant for Lazar Middle School. The grant was authored by Suezette Given and Michael Miller, co-advisors to Lazar Middle School’s Write Eye Publishing Club.
The grant permits students to experience the publishing process in a variety of ways. Through the use of physical binding methods and online publication, the students will learn design, layout, production and distribution techniques. In addition, they will collaborate on a real world project that will provide experience that can be used in a variety of situations inside and outside of the middle school environment.
Ms. Given was grateful for the MEF’s donation commenting, “The grant permits students to produce, print and bind magazines in a professional manner.”
Flippingbook Publishers, the desktop software, was chosen for creative online publication capabilities and advanced editing tools.
“The publishing grant is one of the most creative awards given to Lazar Middle School. It permits students in each grade the opportunity to participate in a yearly publication containing articles, drawings and short stories,” commented Daria Senaldi, MEF President.
