MONTVILLE, NJ – Get out your umbrella and galoshes, there’s going to be a wetdown.
The Towaco Volunteer Fire Department announces a wetdown party to initiate its new fire truck on May 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at its main location on Whitehall Road in Towaco.
“When you christen a boat, you break a champagne bottle. When you initiate a fire truck, you spray it with water from other fire trucks,” said department president Renee Sorenson. “It’s going to be a great party, with music, food and fun. When the fire trucks come, they pull up with lights and sirens, and the fire fighters often wear full turnout gear. It’s very loud and exciting.”
The department took delivery of its 2015 Pierce “PUC” (Pierce Ultimate Configuration) pumper truck sin November. It is a multi-purpose response vehicle.
Music will be provided by the Montville Township High School School of Rock and the Rachel Allyn Band. Barbeque favorites such as boardwalk sausage and peppers, balsamic and BBQ chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided by Encore Catering. Wristbands will be for sale for $15, which includes beer and food, or $10 for soda and food. There will also be t-shirts and mugs for sale. Parking will be available next door at Montville United Methodist Church.
“Kids can wear their bathing suits and water shoes and play in the foam and spray from the trucks,” laughed Sorenson. “It’s going to be wet!”
