MORRISTOWN, NJ - Jersey Central Power & Light representatives, Morristown Shade Tree Commission representatives, and Morristown officials all came together on Wednesday, May 10 to participate in a tree planting ceremony to commemorate the donation of trees at Memorial Park, located at the intersection of Madison Avenue and South Street in Morristown.
JCP&L annually donates trees to various organizations in the community to foster education on sustainable practices as it relates to tree care.
In his statement prior to the ceremonial planting, Robert Walton, JCP&L's area manager of external affairs, stated, “We are pleased to donate new trees for Memorial Park. Forestry is important to Jersey Central Power & Light. Our team of certified tree experts, including forestry manager, Bob Lee, work year-round to promote dependable service and healthy trees. Their efforts include educating about the types of trees that should be planted and where they should be planted. We encourage customers to plant the right tree in the right place at the right time. The trees we have donated today are an example of that. We are pleased to partner with the Morristown Shade Tree Commission and Morristown.”
For the past 19 years, JCP&L and First Energy have been acknowledged as a Tree Line USA utility by the National Arbor Day Foundation. This national award recognizes companies that are outstanding in tree care services, training, and public education.
Representatives from each organization gathered around the ceremonial tree with shovels to commemorate this powerful occasion. Through these partnerships, the community can learn to embrace and follow healthy tree care practices that are sustainable for both our environment and Morristown's infrastructure.
