JERSEY CITY, NJ - The deaths of two people found in the Hudson River Saturday are being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, members of both agencies responded to the Hudson River near the end of Morris Canal Park in Jersey City on reports of a female in the water just after 7:30 a.m. The victim, a 22-year-old woman from Manhattan, was pronounced deceased at 7:43 a.m. at the scene. 

Hours later, just before 1:00 p.m. the Jersey City Police received a call of a second body found in the Morris Canal, approximately 50 feet from the first victim. The man, later identified as Umair Saleh, 23, Edison, was pronounced deceased at 1:08 p.m. at the scene.
