MONTVILLE, NJ – With rumors flying around town about different opening dates and parking woes, TAPinto Montville talked to Michael Cetrulo about how the soft opening for his newest restaurant, Locanda Vecchia, is coming along.
“Things are going well,” Cetrulo said. “We’re going to open to the general public on Monday, Feb. 24th. We’re taking things slowly.”
Cetrulo said there will be plenty of valet parking, utilizing the restaurant lot and the lot next door, and dispelling rumors that he could not open due to parking problems.
The restaurant will be open seven nights a week, only for dinner, and a brunch will be served starting sometime in the summer.
A peek at the menu showed mortadella panini, buffalo mozzarella-prosciutto and fried zucchini appetizers, plus 12 kinds of pasta with clams, porcini, or carbonara, many available as appetizer or main-dish portions.
Currently, there is a sign at the apex of the restaurant’s façade only. A sign will be placed on the lawn where the old sign used to be, he said, making it easier to read the restaurant’s name.
“After 20 years, they still can’t pronounce [my other restaurant] Scalini Fedeli,” Cetrulo joked.
