MONTVILLE, NJ - Author, and innovative physical education teacher, Len Saunders, will sit down Monday, Nov. 20 with Emmy Award-winner Steve Adubato on NJTV and WNET’s One-on-One with Steve Adubato. Adubato and Saunders will discuss childhood obesity and the value of encouraging exercise at an early age.

Saunders, who has been a Valley View Elementary School teacher for over thirty years, will celebrate the 30th Anniversary for his international A.C.E.S. initiative (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) on May 2, 2018. Annually nearly 400 students at Valley View exercise simultaneously.

This past fall the A.C.E.S. initiative was featured on the Emmy Award-Winning television program Classroom Close-up NJ.

Adubato asked Saunders to appear on One-on-One so Saunders could share the history and importance of A.C.E.S., as well as the importance of exercise for all students.

“When I started my career at the Montville Township Public Schools over 30 years ago, I asked myself ‘What can I do to get kids excited about exercise?’ That was when I decided to get the entire school to exercise together,” Saunders explained. “From there A.C.E.S. grew. Other schools in the community, and friends from around the country, had their students participate.  Then A.C.E.S. was mentioned in Sports Illustrated, and A.C.E.S. went global.”

Schools can find out more about A.C.E.S. and how to participate at lensaunders.com.

“Millions of students around the globe participate in A.C.E.S. each year,” Saunders said. “If A.C.E.S. can inspire just one of them to exercise daily then that leads to a healthier lifestyle, and that is everything.”

In addition to A.C.E.S., Saunders created Exercise US for National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month in September. With Exercise US, groups of students in the USA exercise in 15 minute intervals from sun-up in Maine to sun down in Hawaii.

Saunders is also the author of several books about childhood exercise, as well as children’s books.

The One-on-One with Steve Adubato episode featuring Len Saunders of Valley View Elementary School in Montville Township, New Jersey, will air Monday, November 20 at 7pm & 11:30pm on NJTV and Tuesday, November 21 at 1am on WNET/Channel Thirteen.
