MOUNT OLIVE, NJ – Four Montville High School wrestlers will be taking their talents to Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall next weekend by placing in the Top 4 of Saturday’s NJSIAA Individual Wrestling Region 2 tournament at Mount Olive High School.
Senior Parker Fox won the 285-pound region title by defeating Morris Knolls’ Shane Beston in a 5-0 decision.
Fellow senior Dominic Fano placed third in the 152-pound bracket after defeating Roxbury’s Michael Roumes, 7-3.
Junior Liridon Leka clinched a spot in the state championship tournament with a 3-0 decision over Wayne Valley’s Jacob Tareky to take third in the 220-pound class.
138-pound junior Connor Meytrott finished second after being pinned in the opening minute of his title bout.
Fano and Fox will both be making their second appearance in the NJSIAA Individual Wrestling State Championship. Both lost in the first round last year.
Seeding for the state championship tournament is scheduled to take place on Monday. Based on his previous state championship appearance and winning District 8 and Region 2, Fox is expected to earn a Top 5 seed.
The NJSIAA Individual Wrestling State Championship begins on Friday afternoon at Boardwalk Hall and culminates in state title bouts on Sunday afternoon.
