MOUNT OLIVE, NJ – Montville senior 285-pound wrestler Parker Fox was awarded the top seed in his weight class for this week’s NJSIAA Region 2 Individual Wrestling Tournament at Mount Olive High School.

Fox leads a group of seven Mustang wrestlers into the second round of the state individual wrestling championships, after placing in the top 3 of last weekend’s District 8 tournament.

Seniors Ronald Rumsby (No. 7 in the126 pound class) and Dominic Fano (No. 3 in the 138 pound class), along with junior Connor Meytrott (No. 2 in the 138 pound class) join Fox as returning wrestlers in a region tournament.

Freshman Brandon Teresa (No. 5 seed in the 106 pound class), sophomore Joe Daddario (No. 10 in the 160 pound class) and junior Liridon Leka (No. 3 in the 220 class) will make their region debut.

Last year, as a member of Region 1, Fano placed second in his weight class, while Fox finished third. Both advanced into the 2016 NJSIAA Individual Wrestling Championship in Atlantic City. Meytrott finished fourth, one spot out of the championship field, while Rumsby lost in wrestlebacks.

First round matches begin on Wednesday night, with the 1-4 seeds receiving “byes” to Friday’s quarterfinals. Saturday will feature the semifinal and championship rounds, as well as the entire “wrestleback” and consolation final rounds.

In 2017, all wrestlers who finish in the top 4 of their weight class advance to the state championship tournament.

285 – No. 1 seed Parker Fox, senior, first in District 8, third in Region 1 last year, lost in opening round of 2016 state championship
