Please help preserve our open space by signing the petition below and sharing with your Montville family, friends and neighbors.

My name is Katherine Gaspar.  I live in the Meadows.  We are asking you to post this to save our land that is zoned for residential and wetlands. There is a proposed Senior Care Facility to be built on 205-207 Changebridge Road. (Property owned by the Diocese). It would utilize 75% of the land and would be 3 story high. We simply would like to keep Montville as it was planned, residential. We had a meeting with the mayor, he recommended starting a petition for the town to purchase the land. We are all paying taxes for open space and they do have millions in this account.  Please post. We are trying to stop this before the zoning applications begin.

Respectfully submitted,

Petition Background:

Montville Township Committee: Save Our Open Land!

“We the undersigned residents of Montville Township, do hereby request the Montville Township Committee to acquire the land commonly known as 205 and 207 Changebridge Road with the use of Open Space funds. The land in question is in immediate danger of mega high-density 24/7 business development that will bring traffic, congestion and outsiders to our town. In order to preserve the type of town Montville has always been, including its open character, beauty and safety, we need to take a stand against such development.

As there has not been an Open Space purchase in the last 7 years and an Open Space tax collection in this time period of over $12 million, we insist that the Township acquire one of the last upland parcels left in lower Montville.

Besides protecting wetland habitat and greenspace, this farmland is ideally suited for any number of uses, which would be beneficial to all Montville residents.

Montville Township is renowned for its dedication to the preservation of open space and natural habitats. We implore you to act swiftly on this matter and maintain the rural nature of our Town that we all have come to love and enjoy.”
