MONTVILLE, NJ – The woods and outdoor classroom took on an eerie glow at Cedar Hill Elementary as the families celebrated their 10th annual Spooktacular (formerly known as the Blaze) on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The long-standing tradition celebrates Halloween a little early, as families brought their jack ‘o’ lanterns to the outdoor picnic tables in the woods near the lower parking lot for a fun contest and party. There was a DJ, treats, glow sticks and fun.

The Patina family were the winners in the best carved category for their rendition of Dumbledore and Hedwig from the Harry Potter books.

The Urciuoli family were voted most lovable/cutest with their rainbow-curly-cued unicorn pumpkin.

Most original pumpkin was a row of Pac Men that the Krauskopf family painted – complete with the requisite ghosts.

The Szczur family were voted scariest with their Evil Queen from Snow White. She had her scraggly hair, her black hat, and her basket of poison pumpkins – er, apples.

Tyler Montijo from LJDJ’s spun the hits and the Red Barn provided the apple cider doughnuts. The Cedar Hill Baking Committee provided the rest of the baked treats.
