MONTVILLE, NJ – The first Montville Township Community Expo jointly sponsored by the Economic Development Committee and Chamber of Commerce was held at the Senior House on Oct. 18. Residents could come and learn about what businesses, services and organizations Montville Township offers. There were raffles, giveaways and goodies, but mostly there were people sharing with people all that Montville Township has to offer in the way of goods and services.

Several dozen organizations participated in what EDC Chairman Deane Driscoll called a “meet and greet,” which filled the Senior House. They included finance industry professionals, healthcare professionals, home improvement professionals, media, personal improvement, pet care, realtors, restaurants and political parties. Representatives from Parks & Recreation and the Montville Township Public Library were also in attendance.

Chamber of Commerce Treasurer and Co-Chair for the event Margaret Miller-Sanders said, “Having the community get together to support our local businesses and nonprofits is what the Economic Development Committee and Chamber of Commerce are all about. My co-chairs, Deane Driscoll, Nancy Glick and Richard Kurland all worked hard to make this happen.

“I was thrilled to meet so many newcomers to town who wanted to see what we had to offer. Next time we do this event, we will need a larger venue. Unfortunately, we had to turn groups away – a problem none of us ever expected at a first-time event on a Wednesday! The effort all the vendors put in and the generosity was overwhelming. The prizes, giveaways and food added to the excitement.”

Driscoll, who was co-chair for the event, said, “Wednesday was a tremendous success, far greater than we anticipated. We originally went in thinking we would get 10 or 15 vendors, and the number far, far exceeded that. It worked out fantastically. There was so much help from the township and DPW – there’s so many people to thank. Everyone on the Economic Development Committee chipped in – it was a team effort. We got an unbelievably good crowd.”

Why Parenting is Harder for Parents of Teens

My husband forwarded an article to me, “The thing about raising teenagers that no one wants to say out loud.” (link below)  It hit me… hard… so hard that I felt compelled to share and expand on it.  If your family is struggling, you’ll definitely relate.  It’s all too true, and I experienced it, too.
