Virtual Spirit Day for ALL of Montville Highlights Acceptance, Respect and Kindness Especially for those Helping Others During the Pandemic
MONTVILLE, NJ – This year marks the fifth anniversary of OneMontville’s longest-running annual activity: Green In Day. For 2020, Green In Day will be a virtual spirit day event. It will be held all day on Friday, May 15. All students, residents, and anyone who works in, grew up in, visits, or has any connection to, Montville Township, is asked to wear green on May 15.
Founded in 2015, OneMontville is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting acceptance, respect and kindness.
To participate in Green In Day 2020, everyone is asked to wear green May 15. Photos and video of people wearing green should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org, to be included in a special Green In Day video that will be posted on social media platforms throughout the community. People should also post images on their own social media with the hashtags: #WearGreenMay15, #AcceptanceRespectKindness, #OneMontville1stResponders or #OneMontville. All photos e-mailed and received by 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15 will be included in the video and will also be entered into a special give-away for a chance to receive gift certificates to Montville Township businesses. The give-away is sponsored by OneMontville and Enid David-The Davis Group. All give-away prizes will help support local Montville Township businesses.
For 2020, the virtual OneMontville Green In Day will also specifically honor all frontline personnel and first responders from Montville Township who are working to keep the town and the nation safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. On the evening of May 15, Green In Day luminaries will be placed outside the Montville Township First Aid Squad, the Montville Township Police Station, the Montville Fire House, the Towaco Fire House and the Pine Brook Fire House. The luminaries will glow green throughout the night.
“The purpose of Green In Day is to show support for the OneMontville mission and to promote the importance of acceptance, respect and kindness throughout the community every day,” said OneMontville President Shari Schwartz. “It honors everyone who lives in Montville Township. Due to COVID-19, OneMontville Green In Day 2020 will be virtual, and we hope that everyone in the community will share photos of themselves wearing green and help us honor our OneMontville first responders and frontline workers. We all owe these members of our community our deepest gratitude.”
The OneMontville Mission is: to create and promote a climate of acceptance, inclusion and kindness which teaches and celebrates respect for one another by embracing and being enriched by the diversity that comprises the Montville Township Community. The mission can only be fully accomplished through the involvement and commitment of community leaders, religious leaders, business leaders, and residents of all ages, races, religions, ethnicities, abilities, gender identity or sexual orientation.
