MONTVILLE, NJ – Superintendent of Schools René Rovtar introduced the 2019 Montville Township High School varsity boys soccer team to the Board of Education at their Dec. 3 meeting, at which board president Charles Grau presented the team with a certificate of excellence.
“We want to extend our congratulations on your outstanding season,” Rovtar told the members of the team and the coaches that night. “The team completed their season at 20 wins, 3 losses and 1 tie, with 15 shutouts. They earned the NJAC national division sportsmanship award, they were Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference National Division Champions and North 1 Group 3 State Sectional Champions.
“There were a number of individual accomplishments: eight of our players earned All Conference honors and one honorable mention, four second-team All Conference members, three first-team All Conference members, we had seven players earn All County honors, two honorable mentions, three All County third team, one second-team All County, and two first-team All County.
“We had five players who received All State recognition, which is really outstanding. Coach Brown was named State Sectional Coach of the Year, he was named the NJ State All Star Game Head Coach, and he was also named Morris County Senior All Star Head Coach.
It was thrilling you watch you play! It was just a wonderful season and the board really wants to congratulate you on all your accomplishments,” she said.
Grau congratulated the team and coaches.
