MONTVILLE, NJ – Mayor Frank Cooney would like to remind residents that the food pantry will be open Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon.
“There is no reason to be embarrassed,” he said at the recent Montville Township Committee meeting. “Many residents have been laid off from their jobs due to the COVID-19 crisis and need groceries that the pantry can provide. Please come and get them. No questions will be asked. Just come, pull up, and volunteers will place them in your car.”
Residents are asked to stay in the vehicles with the windows up and food pantry volunteers will approach the vehicle. Follow the food pantry volunteers’ instructions. Maintain a safe distance.
If residents can add the following items to their grocery runs, it would be very helpful to those in the township in need. Items needed include pancake mix, canned fruit, applesauce, apple juice, grape and strawberry jelly, cold cereal, peanut butter, powdered milk, canned beef stew, corn beef hash, chicken breast and luncheon meat (Spam). Please drop off the items during regular food pantry hours.
