MONTVILLE, NJ – Current Deputy Mayor Frank Cooney was nominated and voted unanimously to be township mayor for 2020.
By ordinance, residents vote for the members of the township committee, but the members themselves nominate and choose the mayor for the next calendar year. On Dec. 17, the township committee members held a special committee meeting at which they announced their picks for board and committee openings and held the vote for mayor for next year.
Richard Cook, who will be sworn in for his second term, was voted deputy mayor for 2020 by the committee.
The committee also opted to suspend the Long Term Financial Planning Committee “until further notice,” they announced at the meeting.
Those wishing to have their terms on boards and commissions renewed are reminded to turn in their request forms.
The committee will be reorganizing on Jan. 4, 2020 at 2 p.m., followed by a reception at Rails. Contact Leena Abaza at email@example.com for more information.
