A Little Falls man has been arrested on charges related to the robbery that occurred at the Wells Fargo Bank on Route 23 in Pequannock on Sept. 26.
Morris County Prosecutor Fredric Knapp released a statement that Philip N. McGrantham, age 69, had been arrested and charged with robbery and false public alarm. The release from the prosecutor’s office states that McGrantham entered the Wells Fargo and demanded money, received a small amount of cash which was not stated in the release, and fled the scene in a red Hyundai SUV. The release states that prior to the robbery, McGrantham made an anonymous, false 9-1-1 call as a ruse to divert law enforcement attention away from the bank.
McGrantham is being held in the Passaic County Jail on a warrant complaint issued in Passaic County for a separate charge, the prosecutor’s release stated.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 973-285-6200.
The charges and allegations are merely accusations, and the defendant is considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
