LINDEN, NJ - The suspect that has caused an incident involving Linden Police Department, Union County SWAT and several other local officials Sunday afternoon is now in custody.

According to authorities, the incident stemmed from an earlier situation at the Shoprite on West Edgar Road.

According to the Breaking News Network, the Shoprite incident involved a victim being assaulted by the suspect with a handgun. The full details of what transpired there are still under investigation.

Following the incident, there was a pursuit that ended when the suspect crashed at Route 1 & S. Park Ave, at which time he fled and entered a home.

It is said by authorities that no one was injured in the crash.

It is unclear at this point if the suspect knew the residents, although residents were evacuated from the 1st floor and neighboring houses. The suspect is believed to have been armed.

The suspect is now in custody but S. Park Ave remains closed between while units clear things up.
