HOLMDEL, NJ – Holmdel police are reporting that pursuit of ski-mask wearing car thieves driving a car stolen from Montville resulted in a chase in their town, resulting in a crash and foot chase with two of the four thieves eventually being arrested. An innocent driver was injured as a result of the incident.

On Tuesday, Dec. 17 at about 4 a.m., Holmdel police on patrol observed a white Audi with four males wearing ski masks inside it. When officers tried it stop the car, the car fled away, and police pursued through neighborhoods towards Route 35.

The vehicle collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Bethany Road and Route 35 in Hazlet. Four suspects fled from the stolen car but two were apprehended after a foot pursuit by Holmdel Police Officers Michael Sasso and Frank Sigismondi. Both have been identified as 17-year-old males from Newark. The remaining two suspects are described as tall, thin black males, one wearing a dark jacket, black pants, and black and white sneakers, and the other wearing a dark jacket with a light-colored hood and light pants. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and was transported to Bayshore Medical Center where they were treated and released. Officers from Hazlet and Middletown Police Departments assisted, Holmdel police reported.
