HANOVER, NJ – The Montville Township First Aid Squad held its installation dinner on Jan. 11 at the Hanover Manor, installing the following officers:
- Vicki Klein – President
- Paul Van Steyn – Vice President
- Judy Caggiano – Treasurer
- Julie Ballentine - Corresponding Secretary
- Juliana Russo – recording Secretary
- Ricky Klein, Jr. – Captain
- Sal Khan – 1st Lieutenant
Eleven members received awards for having answered 100 or more calls: Sal Khan had answered 250 calls, Nick Krentz had answered 271, and Ricky Klein, Jr. had answered 601. Julie Ballentine, Juliana Russo, Kinjal Sharma, Mike Palma, Jackie D’Amico, Ed Watters, Leo DeSantos and Amal Ravi had also answered more than 100. Overall, the First Aid Squad answered more than 1,200 calls in 2019, Klein told TAPinto Montville.
Representatives from the township committee, police, and all three fire departments also attended the dinner.
Deputy Mayor Richard Cook thanked the volunteers for their service, stating that the EMS workers make a difference in the lives of every family that they come in contact with.
“When I was a police officer, I can tell you right now – you guys were like the cavalry,” the former police chief told the squad. “We’d be on a call, and any cop will tell you today, ‘Thank God for the First Aid Squad.’ We really appreciate you.”
Members also received awards for serving long-term with the squad.
