MONTVILLE, NJ – A vehicle was stolen overnight in Montville Township, and social media was ablaze with reports of suspicious activity across the township, including one homeowner who posted security camera video of a potential thief entering her car.

A 2019 Mercedes was taken from a driveway on MacLeay Rd early in the morning of Oct. 23, Police Chief Andrew Caggiano told TAPinto Montville. 

“The vehicle has since been recovered in Essex County, and the case is still under investigation,” he said.

Anyone with information on the matter is asked to contact the Montville Township Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 973-257-4300. Any resident who may have video from a home security system are also asked to contact the Detective Bureau. Residents are also reminded to lock their vehicles and keep keys and key fobs inside the house.
