MONTVILLE, NJ - The Pine Brook Jewish Center invites you to an evening of healing and reflection for the victims of Jersey City.

Detective Joseph Seals, Mindy Ferencz, Douglas Miguel Rodriguez, and Moshe Deutsch woke up as we all did on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. They got dressed, laced up their boots, put on their shoes and sneakers and went to work that day and, as we all know, they never returned home. In an act of hate and violence their lives were taken. Four people that were different by all accounts but were united into the woven fabric of a community.

While the original targets of the violence were of a specific faith, the overall act of hate left an entire community reeling. Children lost a parent, spouses lost their loves, friends lost friends, all because of hate. It is time to do what our community can for a community that values and embodies diversity as much as we do. Each one of us can relate to at least one of the victims, and we feel that it is time that Montville and the surrounding communities help the families of those who were victimized by hate.

Please join us at the Pine Brook Jewish Center on Sunday, January 12 at 5:00 p.m. for a community dinner. The purpose of this dinner is to put aside any religious, cultural, ethnic differences and come together as one community to raise funds for the victims’ families and community awareness. The purpose is to come together to listen, to speak, to hear each other and to help the survivors of the fallen.

The dinner has been donated so there is no cost to attend, and everyone is encouraged to attend. All we ask is you join the community and if you feel compelled or have means please donate for the victims’ families. You can donate as well as register to attend the dinner on the PBJC website at www.pbjc.org. All donations will be split equally amongst the victim's families and you can also donate at the dinner. By speaking and sharing our differences, that is how we become one.

Warm wishes for a happy, healthy, and peaceful new year.
