MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville football team is officially heading back to the state playoffs for the second year in a row.

The Mustangs will make the program's 10th playoff appearance on Friday, as it earned the fifth seed and will travel to face fourth seed West Essex on the road in the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 3 playoffs.

After finishing the regular season with a 7-2 record, it will look to win a game in the state playoffs for the second year in a row, and will take aim at the school's first-ever sectional championship.

Montville finished 10th in the North, Group 3 United Power Rankings, and due to the snake seeding which divides teams up into the North 1 and North 2 sections, it was placed in North 2 and ultimately became the fifth seed.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday at West Essex High School in North Caldwell.
