MONTVILLE, NJ - The second half of games has been more than kind to the Montville boys soccer team this week.
After it scored both goals in the second half of a win over Roxbury on Tuesday, the Mustangs followed that up on Thursday as Fima Desir's second half goal was enough to propel it to a 1-0 win over West Morris at Montville Township High School.
Desir's goal came 17 minutes into the second half, and was assisted by Ken Shimabuku. The win improved Montville to 9-0 on the season, and was one of the squad's more impressive wins thus far as it defeated a strong West Morris squad.
Max Metz turned aside four shots to secure the shutout for Montville, which picked up a clean sheet for the fourth consecutive game and for the seventh time in nine games.
Montville will get its first taste of tournament play on Saturday, when the second seed Mustangs host 18th seed Morris Tech at 11 a.m. in the second round of the Morris County Tournament.
