MONTVILLE, NJ - The Montville girls basketball team won at Millburn on Wednesday night with a score of 57-10. The team brought their record to 5-0 while also adding their fourth win with a lead of over 20-points. Focused on starting out with energy and being aggressive, the girls had a shutout in the first quarter, scoring 21 points over Millburn.
“We had never played this team before, so we didn’t know what to expect,” said junior guard Daniela Campbell. “We came out strong like we have been, which was important to secure a win over an unknown team.”
Although they concentrated on keeping their lead, the team also, throughout the game, “used our lead as an advantage to work on things we needed to improve on like plays and certain defenses,” according to co-captain Jordan Strickland.
Sophomore Emma Wax led with 18 points, five rebounds, and three steals, which was followed by Strickland, who scored 10 points and added two assists. Daniella Vito also contributed seven points, three assists, and six steals.
Montville will be hosting their next home game on Jan. 16 against Sparta.
