MONTVILLE, NJ - It was a big weekend for the Montville wrestling team at the Morris County Tournament, which spanned Friday and Saturday at Mount Olive High School.
The team saw four of its wrestlers reach the finals in their respective weight classes, with Noah Fox (170) and Michael Conrad (182) each earning titles. As a whole, Montville finished second in the team standings with 179 points, behind first-place Delbarton, which finished with 314.5.
In the 170 final, Noah Fox pinned West Morris' Colin Loughney in 3:59 to win the title. Then, in the 182 final, Conrad earned a 4-1 decision over Mount Olive's Anthony Moscatello.
At 138, Derek Giordano from Montville went up against Delbarton's Anthony Clark, who is a two-time state champion and three-time finalist. Clark earned the pin in 57 seconds to take the title.
In the 152 final, Montville's Brandon Teresa lost to Dominick DeIntinis by decision, 9-5.
It also saw several other wrestlers place in the tournament, with Aaron Kurzer finishing third in the 113 tournament. Zach Stolz-Ilge (195) and Michael Marucci (220) each finished in fifth, while Karl Monaco finished sixth in the 120 tournament.
The team will travel to face Roxbury on Wednesday at 7 p.m., before hosting a quad on Saturday against West Essex, Piscataway, and Sayreville at 9 a.m. prior to kicking off the state sectional tournament next week.
