MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Morris School District will add an extra police officer in Frelinghuysen Middle School this week due to a safety concern. All other schools in the district will see an increase in police patrols. In an email to parents, Mackey Pendergrast, Superintendent of Schools stated that over the weekend, a backpack was discovered containing ammunition at Veteran's Field on West Hanover Avenue.

"Even though we have not received any direct threat against Frelinghuysen Middle School or any other school in our district we are proceeding with an abundance of caution", wrote Pendergrast.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Morris Township Police Department at (973) 539-0777.
