MORRISTOWN, NJ - The Morristown girls lacrosse team's regular season concluded on a very high note on Monday afternoon.
The Colonials crushed Morris Knolls, 16-6, and saw a yet another player cross the prestigious 100-goal mark in as many weeks.
Annika Begley, a sophomore, joined fellow Morristown Class of 2018 teammate Callie Sundin in the 100-goals club by scoring four times against the Golden Eagles. Sundin, who is now moving toward her next 100 goals after achieving the feat against Randolph this week, scored twice and assisted on another.
Victoria Ferrara, Jenna Gill, and Sarah Grace Plott all scored three goals to aid a balanced Morristown attack that got the home team off to a 10-3 halftime lead. Nicole Ferrara also added a goal and four assists for Morristown, while Krista Mitarotonda led visiting Knolls with three scores.
Morristown improved to 13-6 on the campaign with this victory, and now awaits state tournament play. The sixth-seeded Colonials will host Watchung Hills in the opening round of the North, Group 4 state yournament on Wednesday afternoon.
