MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ -  On Sunday, February 12 a residence on Woodlawn Drive in Morris Township was burglarized, said police. According to authorities, a neighbor heard "glass breaking" and then observed an unknown man walking around the home. The concerned citizen alerted police and described the vehicle the suspect was driving. When Morris Township Police arrived  Ptl. Jason Lawlor observed the car and initiated a vehicle stop.

The investigation led to the arrest of Jason Major (34 year old) of Stanhope NJ.  Major confessed the burglary to Det. Chris Tongring who conducted the interview. Major also confessed to another unsolved burglary earlier this year on Burnham Road. He was charged with two counts of burglary, theft, criminal possession of burglar tools, criminal mischief and possession of a hypodermic needle.

Police continue to encourage residents to take preventative measures to protect their homes from potential burglars. Some tips include making your residence appear occupied, leaving lights on at night, park a vehicle in your driveway and remove packages and mail from outside your home.

Report suspicious activity at the time it is observed by calling 9-1-1.
