MORRISTOWN, NJ - Atlantic Sports Health, a sports medicine program and part of Atlantic Health System, welcomed students from Gill St. Bernard’s School and Morris County School of Technology to a symposium on Tuesday, May 23. The students of both schools, which each have elective curricula for students pursuing careers in sports medicine, were able to meet and learn from sports medicine professionals at the symposium.

The program included a discussion about common overuse injuries by sports medicine physician, and physician for the NY Jets, Dean Padavan, MD; a demonstration of functional movement screening and flexibility assessment by physical therapist Nicholas Peppes and athletic trainer Kelsey Pengitore; a discussion about nutrition for athletes by Glen Tobias, MS, RDN, CSSD, board-certified Sports Performance Nutritionist; a presentation on performance testing by Director of Atlantic Sports Health and Orthopedics, and physician for the NY Jets, Damion Martins, MD, and a tour of the Atlantic Sports Health facility at 111 Madison Avenue, led by Atlantic Sports Health coordinator, Taryn Ferrara and sports medicine manager, Adam Kahn, PA-c, ATC.

Atlantic Sports Health works closely with these and other schools and provides educational programs such as the symposium.
